BLACKSMITH CHRONICLES: EKO REPUBLIC, THE FLOATING NATION IN THE SKY Part 1 &2

A few years ago, after the inception of The Government of Africa (GOA), an unnatural disaster occurred. This catastrophe disconnected a small island known as EKO from NAIJA REPUBLIC.
Old Britain, Lagos ex-coloniser situated its High Commission in EKO. Old Britain (Britannica Empire) championed Eko’s motion for independence at the ANU’s (ALL NATION UNITED) general assembly in 2048 A.D. after the continental rift that shook Africa and led to the physical disconnection of EKO from Naija Republic.
This was a benevolent display of sorority filiations by Britannica and this did not go down well with New Arcadia and Naija Republic whom are allies.
And so, a political tango ensues between these “World Powers”.
The confusing Federalism of Old Republic of Nigeria led to the clamour for sovereignty by Eko’s monarch and her citizens. This motion was set as a means of preserving the rich and ancient culture of its ancestral lineage and she enjoyed Britannica’s encouragement.
Before the fall of the Old Federal Republic of Nigeria, the political spheres of modern and traditional authorities were not clearly separated, but now Eko Republic boasts of a NEO-TRADITIONAL Democratic system of government.
This Government consist of an elected GOVERNOR GENERAL, who is also conferred with the title- ASIWAJU. The GG is the head of the republic while as Asiwaju, the custodian and mediator of the Traditional system which is headed by the OBA OF LAGOS.

Four lieutenant Governors were elected for each of the IBILE divisions with the exception of Ikeja which is where the capitol is domiciled. This ideology was in tenet with JB wood’s (An author) description of the island as a military camp commanded by Four Generals.
Eko has a functional National Assembly. One Senator each is elected from each of the four divisions while the Senate Chairman is elected from the Capitol constituency as the fifth senator for the upper house.
The lower house is represented by three representatives for each of the five divisions while mayors were elected to head the local government and municipal councils.
All three-tiers of Government are fully functional i.e. Executive, Legislative and Judiciary. Eko doubled as a Republic and Kingdom constitutionally, this was first of its kind in Africa and the world at large.

In the year, 2051 Eko is reborn as an Independent Republic, a woman of Substance with a plethora of children all dependent on her for their creature comfort. Eko o Ni baje o! Is the slogan dedicated to her and this is uttered by all her citizens, either law abiding or conflagrant.
The year 2057, the new Eko Republic led by the Asiwaju/Governor General initiated and launched an Anti-gravitational Land Mass Sustenance Program tagged “PROJECT JERICHO”.
